D Colour VVS2 Clarity
Moissanite is a lab-created gemstone that can shine more intensely than diamond. It is made from silicon carbide, yet its exceptional brilliance and strong rainbow fire give it a bold, luminous appearance.
On the Mohs scale of hardness, GRA® moissanite measures about 9.25, close to diamond at 10, giving it excellent resistance to everyday scratching when worn with normal care. It has slightly more brilliance than diamond and more than twice the fire—the rainbow-colored flashes created when a gemstone disperses light. Its sparkle can look especially lively in a 2-carat radiant-cut shape; the exact effect varies with lighting, cut, and viewing angle.
How a Diamond Pen Reads GRA® Moissanite
A basic diamond pen is a thermal tester: it detects how efficiently a stone conducts heat. Both diamond and moissanite conduct heat exceptionally well, so a standard thermal diamond tester can produce a positive diamond reading for GRA® moissanite.
